| September 2026: Quasi-Retirement | ||||||
| This website is now in
'quasi-retirement' mode. I won't be making yearly ski trip web
pages any more, like I have the last 23 years. If I make future
posts, they will be here, on this
web page. I realize that a lot of people use the weather links on this website and many use the content for trip ideas. I was reminded of this by the flak I got when I planned to shut this site down at 20 years. So, I will keep this website up for a couple more years to accommodate those that regularly use this site. The 25 year mark will be a good time to retire this website. I like numbers that have an integer for their square root. And Alaska doesn't need a senior citizen xc skiing website. Ha! Anyway ... just a heads up. |

| If you ski or bike in Anchorage, Alaska ... you will soon be able to travel a new one mile, and 15 million dollar, connector trail from the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail to the Ship Creek Trail. This new trail has been under construction this summer and fall. Pt. Woronzof can be seen in the distance. | ||||||
| September 2026: A Canadian "Kincaid Park" | ||||||
| Anchorage, Alaska's Kincaid Park
has cross country ski trails and mountain bike singletrack on a topology
that is defined by ancient sand dunes. Another ski trail and mountain bike singletrack venue built on ancient sand dunes is the Wapiti Nordic Ski Club trails system in Grand Prairie, Alberta. When I am traveling on the Alaska Highway, I like stopping at these trails for some exercise. The dunes are not as big as the ones that define Kincaid Park. But there are a lot of them. And it's fun to zip around these hills on handmade singletrack on a bike. I've skied on the xc ski trails here before too. Nice Nordic center. |
